OMG! snow! i'm gonna die!... puhleeze...

have you ever noticed now every storm is "record" "of the century" "deadly" yadda yadda yadda..whiff o' snow? oh lord,call school off..
sure,people were paranoid when i was a kid about it,scrambling for the "bread and milk run" (as if it were a blizzard,those two things would be worth eating for 2 weeks..mom,get some real food,K?)
but now,every little storm is going to cause instant death on impact.

we had a lot more than this recent fall in 1978.this is NOTHING-we had a lot more every winter back then than falls now (hmm..maybe there is something to global warming..but right now,i'm not feeling it).we lived-and this in the time of the atari.
ok,the makeup days royally sucked-we barely got a summer vacation that year.
i imagine if school went into august nowadays,parents would be howling their precious lil' princes didn't have air conditioning.oh WAH.
back in the old days we got told "suck it up" and that was the end of it.:)

when exactly did we become so fragile?
sad thing is-i see no kids out playing in the snow,snowballs,snow forts..
put the tech down kids.when you get older and have no free time,you might wish you did once in a while.although you're never too old to plop your 'bro in the head with a snowball.it's even funnier when they're 40 something :)=)

i would ask if this state could get any more corrupt..but i already know that's a dumb question.so,now the governor has the brights to think about trying to tax already failing businesses $1000 per worker.which is probably gonna cause layoffs or downsizing..
and people already being paid shit even worse.or become omnijobs,where you have 3 hats and one check.and he's raising bridge tolls everywhere,which will probably make the remainder leave from overhead.

pft..last one out turn the light off..if the power company hasn't shut it off already on ya.

this weather has been some freaky this year.i don't think i've ever seen the state this hot.this is alabama humid.i predict this'll be the year for a really bad hurricane at some point,it's pretty ripe conditions for it.any other east coasters feel this way?

i'm sorry..i live in new england,and looking out the window this morning,
the idea of warming seems far fetched (this is sarcasm..yes i know it's a real deal).
three inches of ice at least in some places(aka,neighbors didn't shovel).
i remember hearing a story a long time ago (and that probably is just an urban legend)
about missionaries preaching to eskimos about why they should go to church,or face a place of eternal warmth.they replied "how do we get there?"

anyway..on to today's tunes..

now,i usually have a limited tolerance of scream metal..i DO like it,but in small doses.but this song,i love.why? because they have a metalish version of the phantasm theme at the end.
phantasm was one of my favorite horror movies..something about it was just so creepy.
i was watching it at home once,and my brother threw one of those silver legg's eggs at me and scared the piss out of me.y'gotta love older brothers.

snow wusses..

what is it now with kids getting out of school on the rumor of snow?
do they like accruing summer days?
don't know whose idea that was,the schools or the parents..or both.

when i was little,we had to have 4 to 6 inches on the ground before they even thought about it.kids weren't gonna melt,it wasn't a big issue.although i must admit during the blizzard of 1978,we had more than we could handle.i think i was making up days til august that year.the year before,my school didn't even have a furnace-the other half of the school had burnt down.that'd probably be a lawsuit today ("what do you mean my kid has no heat?wah wah wah")but y'know,we lived.
..and double sided purple printed test sheets probably helped.
and if you're over 35,you DO know what i mean LOL

it seems like after katrina,the slightest storm of any kind makes people go into a frenzy.i can't believe i'm seeing people freak out over 1 inch of snow.

and oh yes..
i did carry my lunch to school in a metal bucket.
a metal bucket with scooby doo on it,that is. :)

so..that "big storm" that hit the northeast was a fizzle.i think some of these weather stations have katrinaphobia now.every little storm is the end of the world.
granted we're over due for a bitchslapping hurricane,but most of the usually end up as rain.
forcasting must be the only job where you can be constantly wrong and not get fired.
my cats did appreciate the leaf show though.
